Spurs Ready to "Move On" From Kawhi Leonard

Spurs Ready to

The Lakers have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday for James to opt in or out of his contract, which has implications about Los Angeles signing him outright or having to trade for him.

While reports have been circulating about Kawhi Leonard not wanting to step back into a Spurs locker room again, the organization still wished him a happy birthday. According to ESPN, the Spurs are asking for a huge package in return for Leonard.

DeMarcus Cousins has gotten overshadowed a bit as one of the top free agents available in the current National Basketball Association offseason.

The problem for Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka appears to be that the Spurs are uninterested in some of the current assets the Lakers have to offer. The Lakers, the franchise Leonard wants to be traded to, did not have an encouraging initial conversation with the Spurs, ESPN reported recently.

In terms of value and getting Leonard out of the conference, it makes sense that the Spurs are angling to set the price high in talks with Boston.

Boston, though, is skeptical about making a blockbuster trade that would send some of its best young assets for Leonard, who played just nine games last season thanks to a quad injury, ESPN.com reported.

So far this offseason, Tatum has largely been considered off limits when it comes to trade talks.

According to a report from Jordan Schultz at Yahoo Sports, Kawhi Leonard has reached out to LeBron James saying that he wants the two to play together next season.

Before the Philadelphia 76ers and their fans know it, the Kawhi Leonard situation will finally be figured out, as it seems like only a matter of time before the star forward is no longer a member of the San Antonio Spurs.

Adding more money to the books would make signing LeBron James and Paul George exceedingly hard, if not downright impossible, for the Purple and Gold. The Lakers could have to surrender a combination of former first-round picks - from Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart - and future first-round picks and perhaps restricted free agent Julius Randle in a sign-and-trade agreement.
