Trump's Separation Migrant Policy Places Children in 'Cages'

Refusing to bow to police commands, the driver of the black SUV, carrying undocumented immigrants, continued to press the pedal to the metal, until the vehicle flipped off a highway in Big Wells, about 130 miles southwest of San Antonio.

In this photo provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a U.S. Border Patrol agent watches as people who've been taken into custody related to cases of illegal entry into the United States, stand in line at a facility Sunday in McAllen, Texas.

Border Patrol agents began chasing the vehicle around noon before a Dimmit County sheriff's deputy took over the chase, just west of Big Wells.

The chase started when a border control agent spotted three vehicles traveling together and became suspicious of smuggling. One died on the way to the hospital.

He says at the time of the pursuit the deputy did not know if the driver of the SUV had committed a crime, only that they were evading Border Patrol.

"Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of those who died in the crash", The Border Patrol said in the statement.

Over the past six weeks, almost 2,000 children were separated from their immigrant parents at the U.S. southern border, as part of the Trump administration's new 'zero-tolerance' immigration policy.

Boyd said he was not sure of the passengers' countries of origin, but that most immigrants passing through the county come from Mexico or Central America.

Most of the SUV's occupants were ejected.

The inconsolable children wail and weep begging for their parents and other family members.

Attorneys at the hearings said the immigrants had brought several dozen boys and girls with them to the US, and the judge replied that he didn't know what would happen to their children.

"McCain says the policy is" an affront to the decency of the American people" and contrary to principles and values that America was founded on.

The month-old "zero tolerance" approach was put into place in response to a dramatic increase in the number of illegal immigrants being apprehended at or near America's southern border. The agent stopped one vehicle and called out a description of the other two, which prompted another agent to stop the second vehicle.

Some of the victims were flown by helicopter to San Antonio for medical treatment, local media said.

"This, I think, is a ideal example, of why our borders need to be secured", Sheriff Boyd explained.

The U.S. leader, in a Twitter comment, again defended the border policy leading to the separation of children from their parents.
