House Democrats Call For A Criminal Investigation Into Scott Pruitt

The focus of almost a dozen federal inquiries into his travel expenses, security practices and other issues, Pruitt was on the Hill to testify about his agency's FY2019 budget proposal.

Despite a seemingly never-ending stream scandals, President Donald Trump voiced full-throated support for his climate change-skeptical EPA czar Wednesday, claiming the agency is doing "really, really well" under his stewardship.

In a tweet from Fox News Research, the network's information and analysis team, the outlet laid out a list of the scandals and Pruitt has faced thus far and the prices associated with them.

The EPA confirmed the departure of legal counsel Sarah Greenwalt in a statement Thursday from Pruitt. "I love, she loves, we love Chick-fil-A as a franchise of faith", Pruitt told a reporter for Nexstar Media Group, which owns local television stations around the country.

One half of the departing duo, Millan Hupp, had a turn in the headlines a few days ago when congressional Democrats released testimony in which she discussed Pruitt's pursuit of a used Trump Hotel mattress - one in a series of personal errands it's been alleged he charged or allowed Hupp to lead. Paul Rauser, who has reportedly been retained by Pruitt amid the mounting investigations, did not return a phone call and email seeking comment.

Their resignations leave Pruitt increasingly isolated at the EPA, where he has lost the confidence of most of the agency's career staff and many conservative political appointees who feel that Pruitt's ethical lapses have done a disservice to the President's agenda. "And you know, somebody has to say that about you a little bit", Trump said.

"She has done outstanding work in all of her endeavors here and will be sorely missed", Pruitt said in a statement.

Ryan Jackson, Pruitt's chief of staff, now is the only one of five staffers known to have been requested to appear before the House Oversight panel to remain on Pruitt's staff.

Office of Inspector General (OIG) has in recent months seen an increased workload due to the more than a dozen investigations launched into Pruitt's spending and management decisions during his first year as administrator.

"I just think that with great change comes, you know, I think, opposition", he said. At the time, Sydney Hupp, 25, was also working in Pruitt's office as an EPA scheduler.
