"This team has a special quality".

It's small gestures like that which create memories for young people and it was the flawless way for Wenger to kiss goodbye to his supporters of 22 years. Shirts inside the club store also displayed messages from the current squad. Granit Xhaka and Jack Wilshere play, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi start.

If Spurs can remain in the top four before the end of the season, they will guarantee themselves a place in the Champions League due to Arsenal's exit from the Europa League - something the Spurs boss has mixed feeling about.

Former Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch has spoken of the negativity surrounding the club before Arsene Wenger took over, with one player nearly committing suicide.

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke was among those in attendance for the celebratory occasion, with a host of club greats, including Emmanuel Petit, Bob Wilson and Martin Keown, joining him.

The Frenchman was presented with the special trophy that the club was awarded in recognition of his Invincibles seasons of 2003-04 to keep as a personal momento of his time at the club.

Wenger said in in his prematch interview that the Germany worldwide has "a recurrence of his back problem", and added: "How long is he out, I don't know. I know that's not easy but, above all, I am like you, I am an Arsenal fan", Wenger said a post-match presentation on the Emirates turf.

"What I will miss most about this job is the competition itself", Wenger wrote.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Wenger added: "It's very emotional".

"I've met people for whom I am the only Arsenal manager they have known, so now this is a good opportunity for the club to have new people and new ideas to continue to move the club forward, which is what I've tried to do my whole life".

Burnley have been one of the biggest surprises of the season.

"That's how I see it".
