Madonna loses legal battle to block sale of Tupac's love letter

However, despite her objections, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gerald Lebovits on Monday ruled that the auction ould proceed, including for the letter, which went for a starting bid of $100,000 when it was first listed a year ago. "Yet before this auction began, the plaintiff did not make any demand to return her possessions".

In the petition to stop the sale of her personal items, Madonna said: "The fact that I have attained celebrity status as a result of success in my career does not obviate my right to maintain my privacy, including with regard to highly personal items". "We were confident that Madonna had no claim whatsoever, and the judge clearly agreed with us". "I never meant to hurt you".

Madonna had claimed that she didn't know Lutz had possession of the Tupac letter, which was personal in nature.

Madonna too just recently made a revelation about her secret affair with Tupac.

The auction contains a second letter, sent from Madonna to "J", in which she describes Whitney Houston and Sharon Stone as "horribly mediocre". In the handwritten letter included in the auction, obtained by TMZ and dated 15 January 1995, the rapper says that his image would suffer from him dating a white woman.

"It's a clear cut victory for us", Gotta Have It! online auction house co-owner Ed Kosinski said.

"We believe that her intent is nothing more than to besmirch the good reputations of the auction house and Ms. Lutz".

The auction house released a statement on Monday, saying: "We did substantial due diligence when we took all the Madonna items for auction". But Judge Gerald Lebovits ruled that because Madonna signed a release in 2004 allowing Lutz to keep some of her things, she did not have grounds to sue. Now, a judge has ruled that it will remain available for purchase, despite Madonna's objections.

Madonna has yet to comment on the court decision, but Lutz's attorney, Judd Grossman, is celebrating what he's called a "complete win" for his client.
