MotoGP: Marquez: 'Track conditions' cause of Rossi clash

From the beginning to the end, there was absolute ruckus all over.

Frenchman Johann Zarco finished a close second for Tech3 Yamaha after a last lap battle for the lead; Spaniard Alex Rins was third for Suzuki snaring his first MotoGP podium, while Australian Miller was next best. In second place was Hafizh's Monster Tech 3 Yamaha team mate Zarco, 0.251 of a second behind, and Rins on a Suzuki in third.

"He should have been disqualified then, but if we do this we'd have no-one racing". However, the main highlight of the race wasn't the fight at the front, but the events that were unfolding at the back, especially with Marc Marquez. Nearly all of the riders first went out on wet tyres - except for the pole-sitter, Jack Miller, whose Pramac Ducati was fitted with slicks. Most riders made a decision to switch to wet tyres, but Miller held on to slicks having proved his mettle in the wet during qualifying. This meant everyone went back to the pits, except Miller. The Spaniard managed to get it restarted, but would return to the grid instead of going into pit lane.

Marquez quickly reeled Miller in and passed him before receiving a ride-through penalty for the start infringement, knocking him back to 19th. Luckily the bike runs and at that time I didn't know what I needed to do; I knew that if the bike was [not running] I need to go off [the grid], but the bike was running.

Before the lights went out, there was another unusual sight to be witnessed. In what seemed forever, the start was delayed again after Marquez stalled and bump started the RC on a full formed grid.

The start was then briefly held up further by Marquez's issues, but the buffer allowed Miller to keep the lead on the opening lap.

Miller would lead for only a lap, before Marquez would overtake him and begin to gap the rest of the field.

Dani Pedrosa tried to push Miller from the pole position but fell short of few seconds, only succeeding to secure second position with 1:47.300 seconds. But the damage might not end for him there. As soon as Pedrosa opened the gas, he had a major high-side and crashed out of the race.

Rossi finished 19th with Marquez, who was handed a 30 second penalty for the collision, also out of the points in 18th position.

"Today what happened with Valentino was a mistake, a outcome of the track conditions because I locked the front".

Marquez blamed tricky weather conditions and his attempt to regain lost time due to a marshal's penalty call for the clash.

Even after receiving a ride-through penalty and being stuck behind other riders, Marquez was almost 2 seconds faster than anyone else.

Crutchlow now has 38 points, several significantly more than Ducati's Italian Andrea Dovizioso.

"But from Friday morning, he make like this with [Maverick] Vinales, [Andrea] Dovizioso, he make like this with me in Saturday morning-and today in the race he go straight to four riders, because he do [es it] purposely".

"It was nice to win but it was to be expected to be honest", said Crutchlow.
