Iran warns U.S. will 'surely regret' pulling out of nuclear deal

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that US President Donald Trump would regret it if he withdraws from a nuclear deal that Tehran and six world powers signed in 2015, as Iran's response would be stronger than imagined.

U.S. sanctions that were lifted under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) of 2015 will resume unless Trump waives them again on May 12.

"The new USA president - who has big claims and many ups and downs in his words and actions - has been trying for 15 months to break the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action )... but the structure of the JCPOA is so strong that it has not been shaken by such quakes", Rouhani said in a speech broadcast live on state television, according to Reuters.

Jahangiri said the move will effectively unify Iran's currency, which has been trading in a two-tier system for several years -- the Central Bank of Iran controls an official rate for business traders and companies, and the unregulated market of commercial, Main Street currency vendors and unlicensed dealers has used a higher rate.

Nuclear expert Mark Dubowitz believes that these threats expose massive flaws in the Iran deal that the Trump administration wants to address.

Speaking at a conference marking Iran's National Nuclear Technology Day, Rouhani cited what he described as the deal's many benefits for Tehran, including closer cooperation with Russia, China and certain European countries.

They say Monday's airstrike hit a house in Dimnat Khadir district, an area that has seen heavy fighting between Saudi-backed government forces and Iran-allied Houthi rebels.

An early-morning strike on a Syrian government air base in the country's centre killed 14 fighters, including Iranian forces allied to the regime, a monitoring group said on Monday.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons "made a preliminary analysis of the reports of the alleged use of chemical weapons immediately after they were issued", said director general Ahmet Uzumcu.

"We will produce any weapons necessary to defend our country in such a volatile region".

On Sunday, Iran's national currency the Rial plunged above 6 percent against the USA dollar in free market. Exchanges are displaying 55,000 rials to the dollar on their screens but actually they are reluctant to buy and sell.
