Floyd Mayweather Hints at Ending Retirement With UFC Bout

Floyd Mayweather has been teasing his desire to fight in an MMA fight, especially after defeating the UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in the ring, and now he's saying that if he decides to come out of retirement (again) it will be for the Octagon.

During Showtime's broadcast on Saturday night, Mayweather was asked about the incident.

"If I do come back, it has to be in the octagon". Is it possible I come back?

"And just to clear something up", White said, "and I don't want to give this guy any publicity because he loves it, but that greasy, slimy, rat Espinoza talking about how, "Oh, we break the rules" and all this other (expletive)".

"Showtime, CBS, if we can get together with Dana White and UFC and make a mega fight happen, one fight, it could be against Conor McGregor, we don't know. But outside the ring, you have to carry yourself like a gentleman".

"Retirement has been great", Mayweather said.

When informed of Mayweather's request during the UFC 223 post-event press conference in Brooklyn, N.Y., White responded bluntly.

He may be retired on paper, but Floyd "Money" Mayweather's knack for keeping himself firmly in the mainstream media's eye is an art in itself. "A rampage that left two fighters injured at media day for UFC 223 has McGregor facing charges in NY". If I do come back, SHOWTIME and CBS has to be involved. McGregor is now facing multiple charges in NY and is due back for a hearing on June 14.

"When I do go to the Octagon I look forward to going to 145 (pounds)".

One thing Mayweather said was certain was that he is done boxing.

There's no question how lucrative a Mayweather MMA fight in the UFC would be.

The pair clashed in Las Vegas last August with Mayweather taking his record to 50-0 as he stopped Notorious in the tenth round.
