Zlatan: Why I Joined LA Galaxy

Ibrahimovic and agent Mino Raiola toyed with the idea of switching to the MLS in 2016 amid interest from the Galaxy, but instead chose to try out life in the Premier League with the Red Devils.

The Galaxy nearly signed Ibrahimovic from Manchester United previous year but a knee injury kept him out of action for seven months.

The Swede legend scored 28 goals in the 2016-17 season with the team going on to win the Europa league.

The charismatic goalscorer had not played for United this season since featuring in a 2-2 draw against Burnley on December 26.

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived at Manchester United two years ago, former United great Eric Cantona said "there can only be one king in Manchester", to which Ibra responded, "I'll be the God of Manchester".

Ibrahimovic has four months left on his contract with the team, but Mourinho said at a news conference earlier this month that he did not expect him to stay. I haven't played games in a while and that is what I miss now.

The former Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Paris St Germain forward becomes the latest star to export his talents from Europe to the west coast of the United States. "We are confident that Zlatan can be one of the most risky strikers in our league, and we are excited to integrate him into our club".

It had been rumored for as many as two years that Ibrahimovic was considering a move to Los Angeles.

LAFC joined the league this summer and are now the closest side geographically to the Galaxy on the west coast.

Ibrahimovic has made only seven appearances since the start of the Premier League season, his United career having been derailed by a knee ligament injury suffered in April, but he dismissed any possible lingering concerns over his fitness as he looks to help Galaxy bounce back from a dismal 2017.

Perhaps Alexis Sanchez's arrival and versatility meant there wasn't a real need for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to hang around anymore.

Ibrahimovic will share playing time up front with Ola Kamara, the Norwegian striker acquired from Columbus in January.

'The more I play, the better it will be. If he feels comfortable immediately, he could even debut in a derby against their new archrival Los Angeles FC on March 31.
