Central Michigan Basketball Game Postponed After Shooting On Campus

URGENT INFORMATION: There has been a report of a shooting on the campus of Central Michigan University.

Central Michigan University's Campbell Hall dormitory, where police said gunfire broke out on Friday, March 2, 2018.

The university identified the two dead as his mosther Diva Davis and father James Davis Sr., a part-time police officer in the Chicago suburb of Bellwood.

The city says the male suspect is considered armed and risky. The school said parents are being told to go to a local hotel in Mount Pleasant where staff would assist them.

Campus police spoke with Davis on Thursday night, Klaus told reporters during a news conference. "It is unknown what clothing he may be wearing now because we have located a number of articles of clothing along the railroad grade". The shooting came just over two weeks after 17 people were killed at a high school in Parkland, Fla., and amid a national conversation about gun control and gun rights.

The university said there are no additional victims. "We have not had any calls from the community, saying they've seen him".

At 10:43 a.m., the university posted an update on its Facebook page, confirming the two fatalities and adding that there appear to be no other injuries.

Students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland have made powerful appeals for change to permissive USA gun laws in the wake of the shooting.

Investigators are searching for a 19-year-old suspect who is considered to be armed and unsafe.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said on Twitter he was in contact with state police to determine what happened. The college's spring break starts today so lots of students were being picked up and leaving today.
