National Basketball Association agent Dan Fegan dies in auto accident

Prominent NBA agent Dan Fegan died Sunday after his vehicle was hit by a bus near Aspen, Colo., State Patrol authorities confirmed.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened Sunday morning as the SUV tried to merge onto Highway 82 outside of Aspen.

Fegan's five-year-old son and a 29-year-old woman were also in the SUV and airlifted to a hospital in Denver with "serious injuries".

There was one passenger on the bus but neither the driver nor the passenger was injured in the crash.

The crash apparently occurred as Fegan attempted to merge onto the highway before running out of room. Fegan was recently involved in a very much open split with the Independent Sports & Entertainment agency.

However, despite his depleted client base, Fegan was still one of the most recognizable names among sports agents. The two sides filed lawsuits, with Fegan seeking $30 million in damages for fraud and intentional interference with contractual relations.

Besides for Nene, Fegan represented the likes of John Wall, Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan and DeMarcus Cousins.

"The NBA family mourns the loss of longtime agent Dan Fegan", the league said in a statement. "We ask for privacy at this hard time", the statement added.

The report of Fegan's death comes from Aspen, Colo. where early on Sunday morning Fegan's vehicle collided with a bus.

Memphis Grizzlies forward Chandler Parsons tweeted: "I can't believe you are gone. This isn't fair but i know you are in a better place and we will have a glass of red again someday", he wrote.
