Sridevi, Famed Bollywood Actress, Dies at 54

Bollywood diva Sridevi passed away on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest, confirmed her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor. Sridevi, husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi were in Dubai to attend the wedding ceremony of Mohit Marwah.

Boney Kapoor's brother, actor-turned-producer Sanjay Kapoor, told Indian Express: "Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away". Her older daughter couldn't join her due to the shoot of her debut movie, Dhadak.

Janhvi Kapoor, the elder daughter of Sridevi is now in Mumbai and could not be present at the wedding.

Victor of five Filmfare awards and conferred with Padma Shi Sridevi is regarded as one of the most popular heroines of Indian Cinema of all times.

Following the news of her demise, several Bollywood stars mourned on Twitter. In 1978, Sridevi appeared on the silver screen at the leading actress with film Solva Sawan. She made her debut in Tamil films as a child artiste with "Thunaivan" in 1969.

In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri - the fourth highest civilian honour.

Being one of the most sought-after actresses of her time, she was also known to be legendary director Yash Chopra's favourite. Previous year she starred in "Mom".

The news of Bollywood actress Sridevi's death came as a huge blow to everyone. "Condolences to everyone who loved Sridevi".

The arrangements are being made to bring her body back to India as per the reports of the Bollywood media.
