More troops sent to West Bank following uptick in attacks

A young Palestinian man has been martyred during clashes with Israeli forces in occupied West Bank late Tuesday, according to Palestinian Health Ministry. The media report that in recent weeks the "Knife Intifada" has been gaining ground.

Jarrar was reportedly found and shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday in the town of al-Yamoun, west of Jenin.

Israeli Defense Forces troops came under fire Tuesday night in Nablus while hunting for Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, who.

The occupied West Bank has been in a state of turmoil for a month, following the killing of a settler rabbi in January.

The Israeli army, for its part, said the Palestinian was killed after he stabbed and lightly wounded a security guard in the community of Karmei Tzur in Hebron.

Monday's stabbing happened near the major Israeli settlement of Ariel.

After receiving his cloths and the Quran, Jarrar's mother said that the 22-year-old is not only her son but the son of Palestine, expressing pride in him.

"They (the terrorists) should know that such actions only lead to the further development of the Jewish people, to the strengthening of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel", she said.

Israeli settlements are seen as illegal under worldwide law and a major obstacle to peace as they are built on Palestinian land, seen as central to a future Palestinian state. His declaration overturned decades of USA policy that its status should be decided in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

Israel faced sharp criticism from the administration of former United States president Barack Obama over settlement construction, but that has not been the case with Trump's White House.

Japan, which voted against the decision made by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel at United Nations general assembly vote reportedly rejected Trump's recognition once more during the bilateral meeting.
