Firefighters Help Boy Stuck In Claw Toy Vending Machine

Firefighter Jeremy House was eating dinner at Beef O'Brady's in Titusville, just east of Orlando, Fla., when he heard someone yell to call 911. Fire officials say the boy somehow climbed (spelunked?) into the machine through the small opening where toys are normally retrieved. Mason was freed safely and he got the toy he wanted.

The claw machine is a staple at any children's restaurant and arcade, and it involves a mechanical claw the user operates in an effort to snag a stuffed animal and drop the toy into the chute. Driver Operator Lane and Firefighter George were able to get Mason out in short order with minimal damage to the game.

The department's post continued, "Engine 10 led by Lt. Abernathy, made short work of the situation". Luckily for Mason, whose family was eating at the restaurant where the machine was located, an off-duty fire lieutenant was eating at the same facility and assessed the situation.

"One thing is for sure: you can never say never when it comes to the insane things kids can do and there's no such thing as a ideal parent", Sutton said.

After a shedding a few tears, Mason was reunited with his mom, and he got to pick out a stuffed animal.

"Once we understood the mechanism and how it worked it was pretty easy to get those pins removed and the door open the rest of the way", he said.

And everyone loves a happy ending.
