Black Ops 4 is reportedly Call of Duty's 2018 game

Interestingly enough, the game is also coming to Nintendo Switch, complete with DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls support.

Call of Duty: WWII was a smashing hit.

Even though it hasn't been confirmed by Activision just yet, we feel quite comfortable in saying that there'll be a Call of Duty game released in 2018. Despite the Switch's lack of power (compared to PS4 and Xbox One), games like Doom and the upcoming Wolfenstein II port prove the little-system-that-could is capable of running current-gen games.

The Black Ops series developed by Treyarch includes some of the most popular Call of Duty titles in franchise history.

While Activision has yet to confirm or deny the rumors, it wouldn't be too surprising given the fact that thanks to the three-year development cycle, Treyarch - the folks behind the Black Ops series - is the studio working on the 2018 Call of Duty title.

Per Eurogamer, despite the science fiction focus the latter titles had adhered to (especially Black Ops 3), Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will scale things towards reality, as opposed to the futuristic, space-exploring, Kit Harington-led settings seen in Infinite Warfare.

Each November for over a decade now, publisher Activision has dropped a new Call of Duty game on the market.

It's very interesting that Treyarch will be continuing on with their Black Ops series, as it would be the first in the series to go beyond a trilogy. However, it will be set in modern times and will stick to boots on ground gameplay, which was re-introduced in last year's Call of Duty.

The Switch port is apparently being handled by "a company familiar with COD games", so it should be in good hands.

The new sources also stated that the next Black Ops would, like WWII, follow traditional COD design.

What we don't know are the nitty gritty details at this point. Unlike the last couple of future-themed Black Ops titles, this one is expected to be more "grounded".
