China 'a big threat' to US like Russia -CIA Chief

Richard PompeoPresident Trump leans into Syria's war Mueller keeps Russia cards close to the vest Pompeo interviewed in Mueller's Russia probe, Yates cooperating: report MORE said in a new interview that he has "every expectation" that Russia will attempt to influence this year's midterm elections in the United States.

"The Chinese have a much bigger footprint upon which to execute that mission than the Russians do". We see it in our hospitals and medicals systems.

During an interview on Tuesday, Pompeo said China is intent on stealing USA secrets and has far more potential to do more damage due to the large scale of the country's economy.

On January 17, former Central Intelligence Agency officer Jerry Chun Shing Lee was arrested at the John F Kennedy Airport in NY, for allegedly spying for China. "The Chinese have a much bigger footprint upon which to execute that mission [of trying to exert influence over the U.S. and Western Europe] than the Russians do".

But officials did not know at the time whether to blame a mole or data hack. Mike Pompeo added that the Chinese have also used ways of espionage in order to influence the American companies entering the Chinese market.

"I wanted to send a clear message to Qasem Soleimani that there are American interests - there are Western interests, British interests and others - and an attack on those will be met with an equal response".

The case involving Jerry Chun Shing Lee, a naturalised United States citizen, is believed to be related to the dismantling of the USA network of informants in China over two years before his arrest, with some 20 agents killed or arrested. "[We] will push back in a way that is sufficiently robust. that the impact they have on our election won't be great".

"While President Trump stands practically idle, Mr. Putin continues to refine his asymmetric arsenal and look for future opportunities to disrupt governance and erode support for the democratic and global institutions that the United States and Europe have built over the last 70 years". The North Korean nuclear and missile programs now threaten not only the region but also the USA mainland.

"We talk about him having the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon to the United States in a matter of a handful of months".

Asked if US President Donald Trump's use of the Twitter social media service posed any national security issues, he said: "Hasn't caused us any trouble".
