Gronk helps Tide get the message across: don't eat laundry pods

Now Google has stepped up its efforts, saying that it is actively removing videos portraying the potentially risky action. From wounding your skin with an eraser, burning yourself with salt and ice or spraying deodorant on your arm to the seriously unsafe Blue Whale Challenge-which is described as a "suicide game"-kids and teens are ending up with serious injuries and even dying".

The "Tide pod challenge" as its called is the latest viral trend and its resulted in more than 40 hospitalizations in Canada and the USA this month alone.

The Tide Pod Challenge, in which a small number of people have posted videos of themselves biting into Tide Pods, has run afoul of YouTube and Facebook's guidelines about content which encourages self-harm. "We work to quickly remove flagged videos that violate our policies".

Tide did not respond to requests for comment from The Post, but its parent company, Procter & Gamble, told the Fresno Bee that the pods are meant strictly for use in the wash.

"We don't allow the promotion of self-injury and will remove it when we're made aware of it", a Facebook representative said in a statement.

“It’s a gateway back to real food for kids doing the Tide Pods Challenge,” Nick Roesthley said

"The laundry pods are very caustic they have the ability to burn tissues so if you put one in your mouth you're going to have an immediate burning sensation", said Dr. William Meggs, a toxicology expert for Vidant and the Brody School of Medicine. "Like all household cleaning products, they must be used properly and stored safely".

For years, children have inadvertently eaten the toxic packets, leading to accidental poisonings and calls for parents to keep them away from their kids.

This challenge is not like the others as severe damage to the body. "DOING LAUNDRY. Nothing else".

The viral videos are just one of a series of scandals facing YouTube and its content creators, such as Logan Paul, which has spurred Google into action through the restriction of advertising revenue. Last year, College Humor published a video titled "Don't Eat the Laundry Pods".

The Duffel Blog released a satirical article about Marine Corps leaders telling Marines to stop eating Tide Pods.
