Date horror story: Woman rips pricey Andy Warhol artwork from walls

Layman is accused of pouring liquid onto paintings, tearing paintings off the wall and throwing sculptures across the room, according to Harris County court documents.

The damage to the artworks was estimated to be about $300,000. Police allege that Layman threw two abstract sculptures and destroyed three original paintings at Buzbee's mansion.

Authorities say an intoxicated Dallas woman who was on a first date with a prominent Houston trial lawyer caused at least $500,000 in damage to his art collection, including two Andy Warhol paintings.

Her attorney, Natalie Ware with the Harris County Public Defender's Office, did not return a phone call Thursday seeking further details about her arrest and asking if she will plead guilty at her January 9 arraignment.

Buzbee says the two returned to his home, but Layman turned out to be too drunk to continue their date, prompting his call for an Uber.

As per points of interest that turned out in court, Layman and Buzbee were out on the town Saturday when she turned out to be vigorously inebriated and they came back to his home. So, he called a second Uber driver, and Layman showed aggression toward that driver.

"She also pulled a Renoir and a Monet off the wall", Buzbee told Texas Lawyer. "She didn't." Buzbee's jailed date was later released on $30,000 bond. "Luckily those weren't damaged", Buzbee added.

In court, Layman stated she is from Dallas, working as a court reporter. Then-candidate Donald Trump also visited his home past year when Buzbee held a fundraiser and donated $250,000 to Trump's presidential campaign.
