Christmas celebrated with fervour

The Christmas celebrations began with midnight mass late on Saturday night in all the churches of Hyderabad.

Among the believers were tourists from different parts of the country and world who joined the locals on the auspicious day and prayed for world peace and brotherhood. "This year also we did not make it so big, but colourful celebrations are taking place", said Father Roy at the Holy Family Catholic Church on MA Road in Srinagar.

Other churches in the city including Saint Luke's Church and All Saints' Church, oldest church of Jammu Kashmir in north Kashmir's Baramulla, Saint Joseph's Church and Saint Mary's Church in Gulmarg witnessed similar gatherings.

As bells tolled, people thronged the churches, including the Cathedral Church of The Redemption and Sacred Heart Cathedral -- looking resplendent with twinkling lights for the midnight service to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
