Herm Edwards to be introduced as Arizona State coach Monday

This was certainly a new head coaching name among inside the annual carousel, but Edwards has connections to decision makers at Arizona State. "That's what I do".

ASU AD Anderson is a former agent, and Edwards was one of his former clients.

The reality is Arizona State fired Todd Graham, who was 46-31 after six seasons.

"You don't forget how to coach", Edwards said.

Edwards also referenced his former coach with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dick Vermeil, noting how he still demonstrated the willingness to coach long after he transitioned into the broadcast booth.

Don't think I've heard that one before!

In the game in 2012, Edwards had both Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston and Oakland Raiders receiver Amari Cooper on his team and to shed some light on the simplicity of coaching, he shared a story about introducing those players to each other that week. "They're not bringing me here to play".

Edwards' hiring was complete pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents, ASU said in a press release.

Edwards responded with a joke, but the clip quickly went viral with people suggesting Edwards had no idea he was now coaching the Sun Devils.

This season, Arizona State posted a 7-5 record and face N.C. State in the Sun Bowl on December 29. The New Leadership Model affords coordinators and assistant coaches more flexibility in how they develop student-athletes on the field, and enables Sun Devil Football to build on the "Championship Life" program already in place through the Office of Student-Athlete Development to better equip student-athletes with the tools and skills necessary to succeed in their respective future endeavors. He went 18-19 in the final three seasons but guided the school to a bowl game for the fifth time in sixth seasons this year.

Edwards last coached for college in 1989 as a defensive backs coach for San Jose State.
