Nintendo is staking a further claim in the mobile games market with the global release of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on November 22 2017, Nintendo America has announced in a tweet.

That's Wednesday, everyone! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be available as a free download for iOS and Android in North America, Europe, and Japan. Nintendo's Animal Crossing line of games has hooked players for almost two decades thanks to its charming characters and real-time town management gameplay. The game initially launched in Australia last month as a test run, and is now moving to larger markets. However, one feature that players might not enjoy is that the game will require an internet connection to play. It turns out the game's now ready for prime time. Also included are the usual tenets of an Animal Crossing game: fishing, bug-catching, shopping, and even crafting items. If you have played Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, you might reconnect with more than a few old friends! Plenty of smartphone games are based around in-app purchases, but it nevertheless injects a very obvious money-making core to an otherwise pleasant fantasy.

The legendary gaming company fully revealed the long-awaited mobile game in October with a vague "late November" launch window.
