Apple Wins $120 Million From Samsung In Slide To Unlock Patent Case

Appeal Samsung wanted to appeal the decision of the Supreme court, which for the illegal use quick links instead of phone numbers and addresses, the functions of the slide to instantly unlock the device and auto-correction, which are registered patents of "Apple" company.

The current ruling involved Apple's famous slide-to-unlock functionality that the company had patented at the time of the release of the first generation iPhone.

The Supreme Court in December 2016 sided with Samsung in a separate case over its fight with Apple.

Following weeks of testimony and three days of deliberations, the eight-member jury reached a decision awarding Apple $119,625,000 on three infringed patents and Samsung $158,400 on one patent.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to step back into the years-long feud over patents between the world's top smartphone makers, declining to hear Samsung's 005930.KS appeal of a lower court ruling that reinstated a jury award of about $120 million in favor of Apple AAPL.O . We're guessing that every court decision made in the future, as evidenced by history, will be appealed, so don't expect Apple vs. Samsung to settle down anytime soon. This particular one covers the Cupertino-based brand's slide-to-unlock, autocorrect, and quick links patent.

But here's the amusing part: all the original phones involved in the battle have already been phased out of protection. Earlier, the Supreme court ruled in favor of Samsung, however, in October of this year was organized by a new trial.

A week later, Apple asked a US court to force Samsung to cough up $180 million more. It's done better here than in its other patent battle concerning the design of the iPhone.

The company also said the ruling would let Apple "unjustly profit" from an invalid patent.

The Apple-Samsung battle had taken a centre stage in one-of-a-kind nasty rival patent wars.

Notably, Samsung has manufactured the screens of Apple's iPhone X for its AMOLED display.
