North Korea, Syria and Ukraine

The president joined Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan on Sunday and Monday, enjoying a casual burger lunch and golf - and discussing the nuclear crisis.

Trump is on a 12-day Asia trip which kicked off in Japan.

Mr McMaster said President Trump would urge countries with the most influence over Pyongyang to "convince its leaders that the pursuit of nuclear weapons is a dead end" and that it must denuclearise.

US President Donald Trump said after landing in Asia for his longest official foreign trip, he believed the improvement of the US bilateral trade relations with China was necessary, Sputnik reported. "We will not stand for that, the era of strategic patience is over". Our big focus is going to be obviously on North Korea. As soon as he set foot on the Yokota Air Base west of Tokyo, Japan, the president made his primary agenda behind his visit clear. The White House later described the notion that the US had declared war "absurd".

'Every once in a while, in the past, they underestimated us. "It was not pleasant for them, was it?" roared Trump.

"And, again - Putin is very important because they can help us with North Korea".

This contrasts with Trump, who has threatened the North with "fire and fury" and exchanged warlike rhetoric with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "The only and one way for checking his rash act is to tame him with absolute physical power", KCNA's report said.

The president's first stops are Japan and South Korea - frontline U.S. allies in the effort to force Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear programme, and the two countries with most to fear should a full-scale conflict break out.

Renegotiating South Korea's bilateral free trade agreement with the US, dubbed KORUS, is likely be high on the agenda during the Trump-Moon summit.

North and South Korea are technically still in a state of conflict since the Korean War ended in an armistice, rather than a peace treaty, in 1953.

China's fuel exports to North Korea fell in August, along with iron ore imports from the isolated nation, as trade slowed after the latest UN sanctions, but coal shipments resumed after a five-month hiatus.

The amount of casualties would differ depending on the advance warning and the ability of US and South Korea forces to counter these attacks, he said.

A report by the Congressional Research Service released last month estimates that as many as 25 million people on either side of the border, including more than 100,000 USA citizens, could be affected by an escalation of a military conflict on the Korean Peninsula.
