Sen. Rand Paul Assaulted at Home, Neighbor Arrested

A man accused of assaulting and injuring U.S. Rand Paul is a neighbor to the ophthalmologist-turned-politician and is a fellow doctor himself. Kentucky State Police say Paul had minor injuries.

"Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault", Kelsey Cooper, the senator's communications director said in an email. "The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police".

Police responded to a report of an assault at Paul's home Friday afternoon. Stay with 8News online and on air for the latest updates.

A witness who is one of Paul's neighbors says that Boucher and the senator have been immersed in an ongoing feud.

According to The Bowling Green Daily News, Boucher lives in the same gated community as Paul.

"He didn't get any severe injuries to his face", Porter said late Saturday, declining to share more details on the injuries.

The KSP news release said troopers were called to the Paul residence at 3:21 p.m. Friday.

"He's pretty much the opposite of Rand Paul in every way", Bullington said in an interview.

"‪Kelley and I appreciate the overwhelming support after Friday's unfortunate event", Paul wrote on social media Sunday morning.

State Police Master Trooper Jeremy Hodges told The Associated Press that he couldn't reveal any other details of the assault because of security issues.
