Mueller Has the Evidence to Charge Flynn

Officials told NBC News that any quid-pro-quo agreement between Flynn and the Turkish government would be illegal.

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his longtime business associate Rick Gates were indicted early last week on 12 counts that include, conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading FARA statements, false statements, and failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.

On Oct. 27, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed the Trump administration viewed the Russian probe as "getting closer to conclusion" in an interview on Fox News' America's Newsroom. If he is charged, the former National Security Adviser would be the first person who held an administration post to face prosecution.

The younger Flynn worked with his father, including doing work on the Trump campaign. Mr Flynn's possibly indictment would change that. Investigators will be conducting additional witness interviews over the next week, per the report.

According to NBC, Michael T. Flynn is being investigated for potential charges of money laundering and lying to federal officials about his foreign connections, NBC explained. Investigators will also look at whether the elder Flynn tried to help form a plan to extradite an opponent of Turkish President Recep Erdogan who lives in the U.S. Shortly after Trump's inauguration, the F.B.I. was asked to reexamine Turkey's request that Pennsylvania resident Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim cleric whom Erdogan blames for orchestrating a coup against him, be removed back to Turkey. As NBC News explained, he failed to register as a foreign lobbyist at the time, disclosing his work with a Dutch consulting firm only in March, well after he was sacked from the White House.

The fact Special Counsel Robert Mueller has enough evidence to charge Mike Flynn strengthens the obstruction of justice case against Donald Trump. In fact, Flynn might avoid legal consequences altogether, according to NBC News sources.
