Tillerson won't say if he called Trump a 'moron'

Corker, who has been a vocal critic of Trump since announcing in September that he would retire before the 2018 election, told The Washington Post that although he worries about the possibility that Trump will provoke a nuclear war with North Korea and further stoke the conflict with Iran, his biggest worry centers on Trump's relationship with Tillerson.

Tillerson gave a minute-long response explaining that his and President Trump's end goals are in alignment, while also describing Trump's communication methods as "unconventional".

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson shrugged off claims from a senior GOP Senator Sunday that President Donald Trump is trying to "publicly castrate" him and undercutting his diplomatic initiatives.

Tillerson initially gave a lengthy answer defending Trump as an "unconventional President" who is clashing with a Washington afraid of change and hard decisions.

Tillerson reaffirmed his loyalty to Trump in Sunday's interview. "But that's because he does not accept the status quo with the many threats that we are confronting in the world today".

At the beginning of the month Trump took to Twitter, saying that Tillerson was wasting his time trying to negotiate with North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, whom Trump referred to as "Little Rocket Man".

"I checked, I'm fully intact", Tillerson replied. According to the report, Tillerson was infuriated by Trump's political remarks to the boy scouts, and called the president "a moron" after a July 20 meeting. Bob Corker's comments suggesting Trump's foreign policy statements, like the ones he's posted on Twitter, "castrate" the secretary's diplomatic efforts.

"You can not publicly castrate your own secretary of state without giving yourself that binary choice", Corker told The Post.
