You can now order food directly from Facebook

According to reports by the Reuters, the social media giant Facebook Inc has launched a service using which US users will be able to order food and get it delivered to their homes using the app or website.

Users in the USA will find a new option called "Order Food" in the Explore menu, represented by a blue and white hamburger or fork and knife.

Facebook's shares were up almost one per cent in early trading on Friday after shares of food order and delivery service GrubHub Inc dropped almost three per cent.

A year back, the company said its U.S. users would be able to order food through restaurants' Facebook page. The feature combines the popular delivery sites in an attempt to lure Facebook users to order via the app, simply because it's so convenient. Users can then select the Start Order option.

For the Facebook Order Food option, the company has partnered with several third-party services like ChowNow, Zuppler, Olo, DoorDash, EatStreet, Delivery.com, and Slice. Or else he/she can quickly and easily sign up, without leaving the Facebook app. The social networking giant has also partnered with some restaurant chains directly such as Wingstop, TGI Friday's, Denny's, Five Guys, Papa John's, Panera, Chipotle, Jimmy John's, Jack in the Box, and El Pollo Loco.

Facebook today announced the nationwide rollout of a food-ordering platform on its website called "Order Food". Once you do, Facebook will bring up an in-app browser that takes you through the existing websites for Delivery.com and the others.

It's another phase of Facebook's continued efforts to make its app extra-sticky, and reduce the number of times users feel the need to exit it.

Facebook has developed a better relationship with businesses that specialize in food ordering for a period.

Facebook is making it even easier for you to get food delivered right to your door. It's available on iOS, Android and desktop.

The idea was to determine if adding a point of entry through the main navigation of Facebook could help increase usage for its food ordering feature.

In 2015, Google launched a similar service for its mobile app that allowed people to place an order from the search page without having to visit the restaurant's webpage.
