Girlfriend of Las Vegas Shooter Arrives in Los Angeles

The girlfriend of Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas gunman who killed 59 people in one of the deadliest mass shootings in history, has said that she had no prior knowledge of the attack, the media reported.

Authorities are investigating reports that while she was in the Philippines, Paddock wired her $100,000. Police discovered at least 23 guns in his hotel room, including 20 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and they believe he used assault rifles converted into fully automatic weapons to fire numerous bullets with a single pull of the trigger.

Danley, who was twice married before her relationship with Paddock, became a focus of the investigation for having shared his retirement community condo in Mesquite, Nevada, northeast of Las Vegas, before leaving the United States for the Philippines in mid-September.

\ Danley's Australia-based sisters say they believe Paddock sent her away so she wouldn't interfere with his plans.

Danley said she had voluntarily flown back to the United States because she knew investigators wanted to talk to her.

Paddock wasn't able to move into the room until Saturday, said the person, who was not authorized to speak publicly and disclosed the information to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. Police don't know if the devices were transmitting - the FBI is investigating their use - but the Clark County sheriff said he thinks Paddock might have used them to watch for people approaching his room.

Stephen Paddock was "at least ten firearms" with him in his hotel room, explained the office of the sheriff of Las Vegas.

He said there could be a genetic component to the slaughter: Paddock's father was a bank robber who was on the FBI's most-wanted list in the 1960s and was diagnosed a psychopath.

As for the investigation into the shooting, he said: "Yeah, they're learning a lot more".

He had outfitted 12 of his firearms with the bump stocks, said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone", she said in the statement.

Investigators are hoping she can provide more clues into Paddock's motivation for the attack, which killed 58 people and wounded more than 500. He also may have scouted out the location, renting a room at the Ogden, a nearby hotel, during the Life is lovely festival a week earlier, Lombardo said. Authorities also want to know why Paddock wired $100,000 to an account under Danley's name in the Philippines the week before the massacre.

The President and first lady went to Las Vegas to meet and talk with survivors of the shooting, as well as first responders, doctors and nurses during the visit. A neighbor, Susan Page, told the newspaper that Paddock and Danley were "closet people" and that she "never saw them".

"I know she didn't know anything as well like us". He had no criminal record, no known history of mental illness and no outward signs of social disaffection, political discontent or extremist ideology, police said. The President was greeted on the ground by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo.
