Matic issues strong warning to Man United teammates after Stoke draw

Jose Mourinho insists that a 2-2 draw with Stoke City on Sunday morning has not dented the confidence of his Manchester United side.

"It's easy to feel it that some of the players were not with the sharpness and intensity and with the decision-making", he said. "You can mention the amount of finance they can throw at their team but it is what it is, we know that".

"Four matches, 10 points, top of the league, we are okay".

In typical fashion, however, the "Special One" claimed that Stoke were focused on securing a draw rather than victory themselves.

"A draw was a fair result".

Lukaku, who scored United's second goal of the afternoon, had a chance to net the victor late on, but he steered Anthony Martial's cross over the bar. Should Stoke continue to play three at the back as well as they did against Manchester United then it's clear why Hughes needed so much strength there.

After refusing to shake the hand of his rival manager Mark Hughes and arrogantly proclaiming his opponents were little more than long-ball merchants intent on destroying the lovely game, this was Groundhog Day for seasoned Mourinho watchers.

"Yeah, it's great to see them score again and they are very important players for us", added Matic.

After drawing with the tenth placed team, a furious Mourinho walked away without even shaking the hands of Hughes, who had reportedly told the United boss during the match to "f**k off" when Mourinho had entered his technical area during a foul. Maybe it's because it could be viewed as a negative result for him.

It's also reported that Hughes asked the referee, Neil Swarbrick, to send Mourinho to the stands following the incident. "I don't speak about stupid things", he told the BBC.
