Marin Cilic knocked out of the US Open by Diego Schwartzman

Schwartzman's 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-4 upset is just his second win over a Top 10 player and moves him into the second week of a major for the first time.

It's been a dream summer for the Ontario teen, who gained entry into the main draw of the final Grand Slam tournament of the season with three victories in qualifying. Cilic is one of the biggest names in the tournament given that all of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Milos Raonic, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori missed the tournament due to injuries.

Shapovalov, 18, became the youngest player since Michael Chang in 1989 to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open when British opponent Kyle Edmund retired from their third-round match on Friday.

In August, he became the youngest man to reach a Masters semifinal at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

"The month of August", Shapovalov said, "has been absolutely life-changing for me".

"I have a small head", he said with a smile.

However, he has even shocked himself to get this far in NY, where he had only once previously got out of the first round. The five-time U.S. Open champion plays his third-round match against No. 31 Feliciano Lopez, who has beaten in all 12 meetings.

Wilson, who came in confident, was shocked when Shapovalov won the first set. He says his back is fine but he's dropped four sets already - he never lost one in his Wimbledon victory - and has been broken eight times, twice as many as in London.

In a bottom half of a draw without a grand slam finalist and where American John Isner is now the highest seed at number 10, Schwartzman will take on either France's Lucas Pouille or Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin for a quarter-final spot. He will next meet South African Kevin Anderson, who beat Croatian Borna Coric 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. - Garbine Muguruza, on her thoughts about Serena Williams having a daughter.
