Watson will next face Victoria Azarenka after the Belarussian, back on tour after giving birth to her first child. "And although I hit a few double faults, I feel like I'm serving very well".

It promises to be a fine contest and Watson will fancy her chances given Azarenka's lack of match practice.

Five-times Wimbledon champion Venus Williams came back from a set down to beat China's Wang Qiang 4-6 6-4 6-1 on Court One.

"You don't get to where she's got to in her career without, you know, being a really good player".

She has reached the third round of Wimbledon twice before, losing to Serena Williams in a three-set thriller in 2015.
