Tensions rise between Dean Barker and Ben Ainslie after America's Cup crash

Oracle Team USA do not race today, so the challengers have a chance to make up some ground.

The US crew beat Britain's Land Rover BAR and routed SoftBank Team Japan by 54 seconds on Sunday to hold onto top place with four overall wins.

Skipper Ainslie got the better of Franck Cammas's Team France at the start but - in a carbon copy of the defeats to the US and New Zealand - quickly let that position of dominance slip, with little errors being heavily punished.

Team Japan skipper Dean Barker joked that Ben Ainslie was going to bring his team a peace offering following their collision in the opening day of the America's Cup.

The 35th edition of the America's Cup qualifying round is in full swing, as teams raced one another over the weekend.

Sir Ben Ainslie has vowed to "come back fighting" after Land Rover BAR were surprisingly beaten by Groupama Team France in the America's Cup Qualifiers on Monday.

"You need room coming in at 40 knots", Emirates Team New Zealand helmsman Peter Burling said.

Beating Artemis by 3 seconds "was really good for the team", French skipper Franck Cammas said.

Slater said that as the boats were approaching the gate mark, "our job is to be certain that Artemis Racing were keeping clear, and we weren't at that time certain they were keeping clear".

This means France, Japan and Sweden all have two points, leaving the event wide open.

Outteridge, an Olympic gold medallist, got the best of Spithill at the start of their race.

"It is just a shame we couldn't repay them in the races today".

The variable winds over the Great Sound racecourse came to the fore in race 10, as Artemis Racing prevailed in a topsy-turvy battle against ORACLE TEAM USA.

Artemis will face Ainslie's Land Rover BAR in the third race scheduled.

"We had a few tiny issues onboard and I misjudged the entry, but that happens", said Burling on his pre-start error which led to a penalty.

The last match of the day between Oracle and SoftBank Team Japan was the only one where the pre-start victor stayed in front the entire time.

Refusing to rest on their laurels, Emirates Team New Zealand eased over the finish line, one minute and 28 seconds ahead of Land Rover BAR to cap an impressive day on the water. When we got back here and went down on the hull, very quickly it began filling with water.

"We have had a discussion, we have looked at other evidence, information and data, and I think if we were to go back in time and make that call, we would green that call and not penalize Artemis".
