Celtic secures trophy treble, ends Scottish season unbeaten

Celtic completed a domestic treble after Tom Rogic scored a stoppage-time victor in a 2-1 win at Hampden Park.

Neither Aberdeen or Celtic will hold Scottish Cup Final trophy events, whoever wins at Hampden Park, in the wake of the Manchester bombing.

Rodgers became only the third Celtic manager after Jock Stein, twice, and Martin O'Neill, to complete the clean sweep.

The goal sealed Celtic's fourth treble in their history and provided a memorable end to an unforgettable season in which the Hoops remained unbeaten in 47 domestic games.

"Even at a big club like Celtic, I have not managed to win the Scottish Cup".

"The Hearts fans filled three-quarters of the stadium that day, so I could really have run anywhere and been celebrating in front of them".

"I remember thinking that was just the first of many opportunities that I would have to win cup competitions".

Lightning lit up the sky above Hampden before he battered in his own late bolt to help Celtic to seal an unbeaten treble.

"We are capable of a performance we feel that can win the game and that is our sole intention". We know the importance of the game, what is on the line and at stake.

"We have tried to remove the emotion of it all, as we have done for a lot of the season", said the Ulsterman (below), who confirmed striker Moussa Dembele is available again after recovering from a hamstring injury. It's an incredible club and a special feeling I have here, being a supporter.

Rodgers, who hopes to guide his side to a first domestic treble since 2001, admitted that his squad had performed better than he had envisaged when he first met them last summer.

"The league is a fantastic league, it is very competitive and we have to be at our best".

"It's very fitting that the team could honour the Lisbon Lions' 50th anniversary by playing in a way which is synonymous with that great Celtic team".

"The great history of this club and the great managers and players who have been here before me - it's still a very hard thing to do".
