McDonald's expands delivery partnership with UberEats

Today, both McDonald's and UberEATS jointly announced that customers in Los Angeles, Chicago, Columbus and Phoenix can now enjoy McDonald's menu delivered right to their home, work or beyond through the UberEATS app.

Since the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, the feature will now be available in more than 1,000 stores in the select cities. The option will be provided via ride-hailing app company Uber's food delivery service.

Fred Prouser/ReutersMcDonald's is jumping on the fast-food-delivery bandwagon. Much like curbside pickup, which McDonald's plans to roll out later this year, Karavites said delivery orders won't be made until an UberEats driver arrives, ensuring the food is fresh and hot.

After placing an order, an UberEATS delivery partner will deliver your meal. The expansion means delivery is offered at 1,000 restaurants across the country, including 300 in the L.A. -area alone. McDonald's said the other keys to improving traffic also involve technology: The chain is rolling out mobile ordering by the end of the year, and renovating its restaurants to add ordering kiosks and table service.

"McDonald's restaurant footprint, combined with the cutting-edge innovation of the UberEats platform, positions us well to meet consumer demand for fast and reliable delivery, making this an ideal partnership", Easterbrook said in a statement.

Rejoice Phoenix lovers of the Big Mac!

McDonald's already has well-established delivery services in Asia and the Middle East, where for some restaurants delivery is 40 percent of sales.

"Through delivery, we'll bring the McDonald's experience to more customers, whether it's in their homes, their dorm rooms, to their workplace and beyond", Easterbrook said at the time.
